PT story 

 

I have been in the fitness industry for five years. I have worked in a variety of gyms personal training, leading outdoor running sessions and also boot camps.

I am currently based at the village gym, where I do 1-1 personal training sessions and teach a variety of classes including Les Mills body pump, body attack, grit, insanity and spin.

 

My other qualifications include sports nutrition, circuits and bootcamp and BSc sports science.

 

I love helping people with their fitness and health goals, making a difference in their everyday life and seeing them progress and succeed.

My specialist areas include:

  • Running programmes

  • Weight loss 

  • Injury rehabilitation 

  • Body conditioning/ muscle definition 

  • Smiley face every session 

 

Running has always been a big part of my life, when it came to injury, gym was my go to. It was a physical and emotional rollercoaster, a journey that I finally conquered.

 

Being in the fitness injury has helped massively, aswell as has having the knowledge from my degree, so I know what hard work, dedication and commitment feels like and you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it! 

 

Running career 

 

My athletics career started at the age of 15 in high school. My journey began by running the Dorset schools cross country championships where I won the title in the school years 11,12 and the 6th form years.

 

I have also ran in the English schools cross country and many other high league races up and down the country.

 

Studying at St Marys was an incredible experience, running and living with some of the UK's top athletes, it was a fantastic opportunity and I learnt so much about the thing I loved.

 

I was able to compete on the olympics track back in 2012 as the test event in the 10,000m which was incredible and even enabled me to get on the all time list for my age group. 

 

My best accomplishments to date include:

  • 5k 17:49 (winter series 5k)

  • 10k 36:36 (Christchurch Christmas 10k)

  • 10mile 61:21 (Wimborne 10)

  • Half marathon: 80mins 21 seconds (bath half- first under 21 in 2011)

  • Marathon 3hours 34 (Bournemouth 2016)

  • Jurassic coast challenge 3 marathons in 3 day 2019 - 10th overall, 1st lady

  • Dorset invader marathon- 4th overall, 1st lady 4 hours 48

My goals for the rest of the year include focusing on the trail marathon distance entering some local events and possibly Bournemouth marathon, to get my time down. I would like to run up to 50miles whether it be in training or a race.

 

Next year I aim to do some ultra races abroad and complete my first 100k. But right now, my focus is on recovery, after what I have already put my body through this year. Training will start up again next month and I will begin to incorporate more mobility work, speed sessions at least twice a week, one being hills and the other being intervals.

 

There are so many components to think about when training it’s important to change or adjust one thing at a time so the body adapts accordingly.
